At times I've had guests at weddings ask me what MC stands for.
I've also seen brides and grooms request not needing an MC for there
wedding. Oh really?
MC is the abbreviation for Master of Ceremonies, and essentially
if you're planning on having a successful wedding reception or an
event, you need a MC. Without an MC guests will have no direction,
formalities i.e. toasts, will be done without proper introduction,
or in vain, and your guests will be left wondering what is going on.
A Master of Ceremonies is basically a host. Can you imagine a show
like American Idol without a host(Ryan Seacrest). How would anyone
know what's happening or what's about to happen?
Being an MC is not as easy as some may think. Did you know the #1
fear in America is public speaking. Most mobile claim to be MC's.
Just because you own a microphone does make you a master of Ceremonies.
A professional MC will have skill to speak eloquently and smoothly on
a microphone. This is takes training and years of practice. The most
talented and experienced MC's make the most money. Michael Buffer the
ring announcer gets millions to introduce fighters and say "Lets get
ready to rumble". Can just anyone do what he does? No! or we all would
be doing it.
If you want to be well represented at your wedding or next event, be
sure your MC is well trained, experienced and skilled. There is a
difference between a real MC and someone that carries a mic to makes
announcements.
